Problems Downloading, Opening & Closing the Trials
Generally when a trial is downloaded it is reasonably straightforward. The user clicks on the appropriate icon above, saves the file to the desktop and then opens it and the software functions perfectly.
There are 3 main problems which users may encounter:
"I've downloaded the package but can't find it'
"I've downloaded the file and opened it but nothing happens" (click here)
"The package works fine but when I go to save or close the package I repeatedly get a password request. (click here)
1. Can't find it.
The user clicks downloads the trial but then cannot find the package to open it.
(a)Make sure that when you click the link to dwnload that you click 'Save' and not 'Open'. (see below)
(b) It helps if you save it to the desktop as shown below. This make it easy to find and open.
2. Nothing happens.
This is because the default settings on many computers prevent the 'macros' or programming in some files from running, in case a untrustworthy author includes damaging programming in the file.
The way in which that setting is adjusted depends on the version of Excel on your computer and it is set out below. The change in settings set out below, enables you to choose whether to permit the programming when you open one of our packages.
This package enables the organiser of a cup or single elimination competition to enter any number of teams up to 64, including awkward' numbers, click a button to produce a random knock-out draw.

3. Password request
Occasionally users find that the package works fine but on closing the package or trying to save it, a little box appears asking them for a password. This sounds as though I am blaming the user, but it is caused by a variety of totally harmless things that the user has installed on their computer which in combination leads to a malfunction within Excel.
If you experience this problem email amillar2000@aol.com for package that does not have this problem
Which version of Excel am I using?
There are several ways of establishing which version you are using but the easiest is to look at the splashscreen which appears as you first open Excel. (not when you open a file but when you first open Excel and when no files are open)
Although there are variations on a theme the images shown below indicate what you see for the named versions.
